What is Scout Spirit?

"Your standing as a scout
does not depend so much on
the skills of your hands or
the badges on your merit badge
sash, as on the spirit in your heart,
on what you are willing to do
for others, on whether you are
doing your very best to live
the Scout Oath and Scout Law"

The Scout Law:

A Scout is Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
and Reverent

Coral Reef Sailing Adventure

Home for the week for our eight member crew  will be a 50 foot sailing vessel. During the odyssey our crew will be sailing the Florida Keys and have the opportunity to snorkel many coral reef areas, including Looe Key, one of the most beautiful reefs in the Keys and part of the Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. During your voyage you will study astronomy, sailing techniques, boating terminology, navigation, fish identification and coral reef ecology. This seven day adventure includes a night in Key West. We will live on board, sleeping in bunks below deck and cooking fresh caught fish in the galley. When we are not snorkeling, we will be fishing the blue waters of the Keys for what it has to offer. Upon our return to port we will clean the boat, stow gear and prepare for a Hawaiian luau. All crew members must possess the highest character, leadership, and teamwork skills and meet certain age, swimming and other eligibility requirements. Scouts must be approved by the Scoutmaster and Crew Advisor.

Yes, I want to join the Boy Scouts!!!

Boy Scouting and the Spirit of Adventure

Many prominent American men in business, the professions and government have backgrounds as Boy Scouts. The American space program is a case in point. Of the 312 pilots and scientists selected as astronauts since 1959, 180 were Scouts. Of the 12 men to walk on the surface of the moon, 11 were Scouts. The first human to set foot on the moon, Neil A. Armstrong, was an Eagle Scout.

                                  Making a Difference

"When people see a boy in a scout uniform, they expect someone of good character, who is prepared to the best of his ability and ready to help those around him"
Our next regular meeting will be
held in August. TBD

We will see all of you at Mount Norris and Florida Sea Base.

Everyone have a great summer!
